Three people were killed – including two firefighters – and three people were injured after a pontoon they were in collided with a barge while boating in Lake Pepin on July 11, according to multiple media reports.
The Pepin County Sheriff’s Department said authorities were dispatched to the lake around 10:45 p.m. after receiving a report of people screaming for help, according to KARE 11.
Three people were found clinging to an overturned pontoon boat just offshore. Three others who had been on the boat could not be located. Their bodies were recovered the next day.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
