A teacher at a St. Louis Park elementary school has been charged with malicious punishment of a child after he was accused of dragging an 8-year-old student on the floor, causing a rug burn, according to KARE 11.
Police were called to Aquilla Elementary School after staff reported that the child was allegedly injured by his teacher, Steven Samuel Birth, 33, Fox 9 reported.
Citing the criminal complaint, FOX 9 reported that an assistant principal told police she saw the student showing an injury to his side and said the student told her, “Mr. Steve dragged me.” A student told police that the child got in trouble in class and that Burth allegedly pulled the student’s legs, according to the complaint.
