A 51-year-old Pelican Rapids woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a driver who was suspected to have alcohol in his system, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Basro Hassan Abokar was driving northbound on Highway 59 in Erhard Township in Otter Tail County on Sept. 6 when she was met by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Jacob Thatcher of Fergus Falls.
Abokar was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thatcher was taken to a Fergus Falls emergency room where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The state patrol said alcohol in Thatcher’s system was suspected as part of the crash.
