A Mounds View high school teacher has been charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct after police say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old student and provided her with drugs and alcohol, according to the criminal complaint and multiple media outlets.
Police say Ted Matthew Bennett, 58, who had been a teacher at the school for 27 years, started allegedly commenting on the victim’s looks beginning when she was in 10th grade.
Investigators say they viewed both Bennett’s and the victim’s cell phone, which revealed “a significant amount of evidence establishing Bennett had sexual contact with (the victim),” according to the criminal complaint.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s office believes that Bennett had other alleged victims, and will open a tipline for other alleged victims to come forward, according to Fox 9.
