Two school buses in the metro area have caught fire this October with children on board, according to multiple media reports.
Earlier this month a bus in Bethel was dropping kids off in the afternoon when a parent noticed flames coming up from the bus.
She told WCCO she and the bus driver were able to evacuate the 22 children, who were safely off the bus when it exploded.
“Kids were crying. Kids were scared and freaking out,” the mother said. “It was quite emotional and kind of frantic.”
Eight children had to be evacuated from a school bus on Monday before it was engulfed in flames in Brooklyn Center.
The driver and bystanders were able to safely evacuate the children, who were not injured. The cause of that fire was likely due to a mechanical issue near the engine, officials told KSTP.
