Iron Range principal charged with sexually abusing student for two years

A former teacher and principal at Rock Ridge Schools in Minnesota’s Iron Range has been charged with sexually abusing a student over several years, according to Fox 9.

The criminal complaint accuses 52-year-old Christopher John Chad, 52, of abusing his position of authority when he was the student’s teacher, speech coach and principal. He allegedly sexually assaulted the student between April 2021 and December 2023, when the student was between 14 and 16 years old, Fox 9 reports.

Fox 9 says that the complaint details five separate occasions of sexual contact, including one incident behind a school shed.

The charges come more than a year after Chad was arrested in Eveleth and extradited to Georgia on unrelated child exploitation charges, according to the Timberjay.
