Bloomington daycare provider admits neglect killed child

A Bloomington woman who operated an unlicensed home day care admitted in court that her neglect led to the death of a 20-month-old child from asphyxiation, the Star Tribune reports.

The daycare provider had told police that she fed the boy lunch and after leaving him for a time found that his lips were blue, according to the Star Tribune. After removing the food instead of calling police she again left him alone. When she returned, she found his lifeless body.

According to the Star Tribune, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office found that the excess food caused asphyxiation and prevented oxygen from getting to Raiden’s brain.
