Two elderly Duluthians allege they were sexually assaulted inside their retirement home by the same man, but that the home failed to take action against their alleged assailant, the Star Tribune reports (gift link).
The women live on the Duluth campus of Benedictine Living Community, a Catholic-based network of senior communities across the Midwest. One of the women told the Star Tribune that in 2025 a 90-year-old male resident of Benedictine fondled her without consent; the other resident reported the same early happened to her earlier this summer. Each reported to Benedictine and to the police.
The women told the Star Tribune that management has offered them little support. A chaplain for their facility allegedly suggested to one of the women that the alleged assailant had “a spiritual problem,” and that she should forgive him.
