Rear-end crash at NE Minneapolis railroad crossing pushes 2 SUVs into train

Police are investigating whether a driver was intoxicated when he allegedly rammed into an SUV stopped at a railroad crossing, pushing both vehicles into a passing freight train early Wednesday morning in Minneapolis, KSTP is reporting.

The Minneapolis Police Department said that a woman driving a Cadillac Escalade was stopped at the railroad crossing when a man driving a Toyota Rav4 north on Central Avenue struck the Cadillac from behind.

Both drivers were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. The man’s injuries are considered life-threatening, and the woman is expected to survive, according to KSTP.
