McLeod Sheriff deputy charged with assault after allegedly stabbing man at a bar

A McLeod County Sheriff deputy has been charged with second degree assault and threats of violence after he allegedly stabbed a man in the neck at a bar, according  to KSTP.

David William Olson, 46, was at the Grove City bar on April 4 when surveillance video captured him pointing his fingers to someone out of view and motioning “I’m watching you,” according to the criminal charges.

KSTP reports that Olson could be seen reaching into his pocket, placing an object against the right side of the victim’s neck and holding a finger over it before walking away.

The victim told law enforcement that prior to the stabbing, the bar owner asked him to break up a fight and de-escalate Olson, to which Olson allegedly responded by stating he would “slit all their throats.” The victim added it wasn’t until after the incident that he learned Olson had pushed a pocketknife into his neck, court records said.
