A Hill City, Minn., police officer is accused of using his position of authority to rape a 17-year-old girl last year, KSTP reports.
Jordan Zempel, 35, of Apple Valley, has been charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct after prosecutors say he used his status as a police office to sexually assaulted the teen three times, according to the KSTP.
Citing the criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County, KSTP reports that Zempel and the victim met online, and while the girl lied about being 18, she never provided any proof of her age, and Zempel reportedly “saw her in high school pictures.”
According to the criminal charges, the victim reported that Zempel talked about “having power and guns” and that “he had friends in the police department and that you can’t say no to him,” the complaint states.
During their first meeting, Zempel allegedly pulled out a gun, and he later showed off other equipment, such as his badge, Taser and vest, according to KSTP.
The news outlet also says Zempel is accused of placing the victim in handcuffs on one occasion and sexually assaulting her while in uniform a separate time.
