State suspends Savage Child Care Center’s license following infant death

A Savage Child Care’s license has been suspended a day after an infant died at the facility, according to KSTP.

A letter sent by the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families to the Rocking Horse Ranch revealed that there were two instances of emergency medical services needed for infants at the facility, both of whom exhibited, “similar and significant respiratory distress symptoms.”

The first EMS call came on Friday, Sept. 19. A few days later, on Monday, Sept. 22, EMS was called for another child, who died that day due to what police called, “a medical incident.”

Savage police had previously urged parents with children who went to the Rocking Horse Ranch to “closely monitor their children and seek immediate medical attention if they exhibit altered mental status, unusual behavioral changes, or other concerning symptoms.”
