11-year-old riding bike dies after being hit by truck driver

An 11-year-old Wrenshall girl has died after she was hit by a pickup truck driver while riding her bike, according to Bring Me the News.

Avery Anderson was riding on a Wrenshall street on Friday, Sept. 5, when she was hit. Anderson was treated at the scene by an off-duty Cloquet police officer who was the first to contact dispatch and organize an emergency response, Bring Me the News Reported.

Numerous first responders also performed life-saving measures at the scene before Anderson was taken to a hospital in Duluth and later taken by a Life Link medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis

The driver of the truck, a 49-year-old man from Summerville, South Carolina, cooperated with authorities and showed no signs of impairment, according to the sheriff’s office.
