An 18-year-old was using his cellphone in the moments before causing a crash that killed an 11-year-old girl, according to criminal charges.
Conner Michael Iverson was driving in the city of Independence when he blew through a stop sign, prosecutors say. He hit a vehicle with six passengers, including Lilyana Loycano. Police found the girl had suffered a severe neck injury. She was taken to Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Charges say that that Iverson was driving 63 MPH when he crossed the intersection.
