Storms and Vettleson Settle Jail Suicide Case for $1.15 Million

Partners Jeff Storms and Ryan Vettleson, along with co-counsel, settled a tragic case involving the suicide of a detainee at the Hennepin County Jail committing suicide shortly after his forced transfer from the Hennepin County Medical Center. The gentlemen suffered from severe mental illness, and that the firm alleged the County and Hennepin Healthcare were deliberately indifferent to the man’s serious medical needs. This is one of the largest, if not possible the largest, settlement that the County, and its subsidiaries, has ever paid for a death or injury occurring at its Jail.
